CoolSculpting vs. CoolTone | Knowing which procedure is right for you…

CoolTone and CoolSculpting are both FDA-cleared, non-surgical body contouring treatments. They’re safe, proven, and effective options, but work using different technologies. CoolTone uses electromagnetic muscle stimulation to strengthen and tone muscles, while CoolSculpting uses cold-energy to freeze and remove fat cells through a process called cryolipolysis. Both treatments are great options, but CoolTone is better for building muscle, while CoolSculpting is better for fat reduction.

At a free consultation, we’ll discuss your goals and which treatment is the best fit for your goals and concerns. Sometimes, clients are better served by 1 type of treatment, while other times clients do a combination of both treatments over time.

What is cooltone?

CoolTone is a nonsurgical, FDA-cleared treatment that uses magnetic muscle stimulation (MMS) to stimulate intense muscle contractions. It works on the abdomen, glutes, and thighs as of 2022. Over time, additional areas may be researched and available for treatment. It’s ideal for clients looking to strengthen, tone, or firm muscles in these areas as their primary concern.

When clients are wanting to look more defined, we may recommend a series of CoolTone after a CoolSculpting treatment. Our stance is first, remove the fat where we can and second, tone muscles using CoolTone for the best aesthetic outcomes.

Functionally, CoolTone can work regardless of the aesthetic outcome if the goal is to feel stronger and more controlled. Clients report better posture, more control of muscles, less fatigue when standing or on their feet, and overall functional improvement after treating their abdomen and/or glutes.

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is an FDA-cleared noninvasive treatment that uses controlled cooling to target fat cells for permanent reduction. It’s ideal when the goal is fat reduction. It’s not a weight loss treatment and it won’t increase muscle tone. Ideal clients are looking to spot reduce trouble areas that aren’t responding to healthy diet or exercise, like love handles. It’s FDA-cleared in 9 areas, essentially everywhere between chin and knees. It’s important to understand risks and side effects for CoolSculpting, as it’s not ideal for everyone.
