CoolSculpting known Risks and Side Effects

There’s risks and side effects in any decison you make. CoolSculpting is a medical procedure.

As with any medical procedure, CoolSculpting carries certain risks and side effects. Common ones include redness, swelling, bruising, and numbness, which are generally expected after treatment.  A full list of known CoolSculpting side effects can be found here.

However, rare side effects demand attention. Let’s discuss a few of them…

Late onset pain after CoolSculpting

Characterized by discomfort, sharp pains, or a feeling of broken glass under the skin, late onset pain may occur. At home management advice includes alternating ice/heat for 20 minute intervals, compression garments, and light stretching. For extreme cases of Late Onset Pain (LOP), clients who were treated at Element Body Lab may be perscribed a nerve-block for short term relief. Late Onset Pain usually presents 3-5 days after treatment and persists for 3-11 days from onset.

Paradoxical Hyperplasia | Growing Fat After CoolSculpting

A rare but serious risk, PH as described by the manufacturer is characterized by “the gradual development of a visibly enlarged tissue volume, of varying size and shape in the CoolSculpting teratment area 2-5 months after treatment.” Surgical intervention (liposuction) is the only solution, and patients who suspect they have this should contact their provider immediately to discuss repair options.

Treatment Area Demarcation (TAD) | Botched CoolSculpting | Shark Bite after CoolSculpting

The importance of expert treatment is highlighted by TAD, where incorrect fat removal leads to unsightly results. Element Body Lab offers specialized CoolSculpting repairs for such cases.
