Does CoolSculpting Tighten Skin?
CoolSculpting is FDA-cleared for permanent fat reduction, but not for addressing lax or loose skin. While many clients see a natural tightening effect, if you have loose skin before, you will likely have loose skin after.
When considering CoolSculpting treatment, it’s important to keep this in mind and discuss any questions or concerns during a consultation. Advice should always be customized based on the client and their desired outcomes. The best way to know if the treatment is right for you is to schedule a one-on-one consultation with a highly trained specialist at Element Body Lab or see CoolSculpting before and after photos here.
Does CoolSculpting Tighten Loose Skin on the Stomach?
While the FDA has cleared CoolSculpting to affect the appearance of lax tissue in the submental area, the skin on our stomach is similar to the skin on our neck. CoolSculpting is not FDA-cleared to tighten loose skin on the stomach. Depending on the intensity of lax tissue, there may be better treatment options or combination treatments involving CoolSculpting and other methods to best serve the client’s outcomes. Can CoolSculpting Get Rid of Belly Pooch?
CoolSculpting is the safest and most proven treatment to address unwanted fat. The abdomen is the number one treatment area, and many of our clients are thrilled with their outcomes. One of the biggest concerns clients have is an unwanted belly pooch, and CoolSculpting can be a safe and effective way to target it.
CoolSculpting Loose Skin – Case Study
Female Client with Loose Skin Does CoolSculpting on Stomach
This client presented with unwanted fat and loose skin. Her primary goal was to get rid of the fat, and the loose skin and stretch marks that she proudly earned from carrying multiple children were not an issue for her. She wanted to feel better in a one-piece bathing suit so she could enjoy playing on the beach with her family. She had loose skin on her stomach before CoolSculpting, and she has the same loose skin afterward. That said, she was thrilled with her outcome.

CoolSculpting and Loose Skin – Define the Primary Concern
When considering CoolSculpting and loose skin, start by defining the primary goal. If the primary goal of the client is to address unwanted fat, CoolSculpting can be the ideal treatment. If you want tight, smooth skin and have loose skin before treatment, you might find better alternatives or combinations of treatments more effective. Have a consultation with a highly trained CoolSculpting provider and consider a consultation with a plastic surgeon as well. Work closely with multiple perspectives and points of view to determine the best action to take, and take a look at results from other clients to get a better understanding of what outcomes to expect. CoolSculpting Excess Skin
When excess skin is present, CoolSculpting may not be the ideal solution. CoolSculpting needs the appropriate ratio of fat to skin in order to facilitate successful treatment. When CoolSculpting excess skin, you need a highly trained provider like those at Element Body Lab who understand the nuances of treatment and how to facilitate ideal outcomes.
Does CoolSculpting Tighten on Loose Skin on Stomach?
CoolSculpting does not tighten loose skin on the stomach. For some clients, they do notice a natural tightening effect as long as there’s no lax tissue prior to treatment. None of our clients have experienced loose skin on the stomach after CoolSculpting that they weren’t aware of before treatment. We design our consultations to be highly educational and personalized, ensuring our clients receive the best advice possible. Take a look at other patient outcomes – see CoolSculpting before and after photos for a better understanding of what results to expect.
Does Cold Therapy Tighten Skin?
Cold Therapy and CoolSculpting are different treatments. CoolSculpting is not a skin-tightening treatment but can cause a temporary tightening effect, much like Cold Therapy. Cold therapy causes pores to contract, can reduce inflammation and puffiness, and improve circulation. These effects, combined with your own personal skin response, can cause some temporary visible differences in skin texture, but it’s a temporary side effect and not an effective treatment option for skin tightening.
How Long Does It Take for Skin to Tighten After CoolSculpting?
Immediately after CoolSculpting, there can be some temporary tightening effects of the skin due to inflammation and cold exposure. The natural, programmed cell death and turnover take effect over the course of 3 weeks to 3 months. During this process, we recommend our clients use Alastin TransFORM Body Treatment, a topical product that penetrates through the hair follicle, binds to the fat cells beneath, stimulates the lymphatic system to process the fat out, and also improves skin texture by clearing out the enzymes that prevent skin retraction. We highly encourage all our clients to use it, especially those who received aggressive treatments on the abdomen.

What is the Best Procedure to Tighten Loose Skin on Stomach?
The tummy tuck is the gold standard for tightening loose skin on the stomach. Morpheus 8 can be ideal, depending on the client. Our office focuses exclusively on CoolSculpting treatments, but we have recommendations for providers and practices local to Dallas, Texas that offer exceptional outcomes and patient care to clients needing a referral.
Combining CoolSculpting with Other Treatments
For clients with both loose skin and unwanted fat, combining CoolSculpting with other treatments can yield the best results. For instance, you can use CoolSculpting to target and eliminate stubborn fat, while Morpheus 8 or radiofrequency (RF) therapy helps tighten the skin. These combination treatments can address multiple concerns simultaneously, providing a more comprehensive approach to body contouring.
Additionally, we recommend that our clients also consider combining CoolSculpting with Alastin TransFORM Body Treatment to ensure proper skin retraction after CoolSculpting. This preventative measure helps tremendously with skin laxity after CoolSculpting.
