You know that CoolSculpting is the safest and best way doctors use to freeze away unwanted fat for good. But now you’re wondering about the long-term effects… more specifically you want to know if that makes CoolSculpting permanent.

Is CoolSculpting Permanent?

In order to understand how results last from CoolSculpting, you need a little bit of understand on how the technology works.

CoolSculpting works by specifically targeting unwanted pinchable fat that lies above the muscle wall. The type of fat it works on is called subcutaneous fat – it’s the fluffy stuff that’s super stubborn. The stuff that’s hard to target with diet and exercise. It’s the “last 5 pounds” that has you frustrated at the gym.

CoolSculpting selectively targets the treatment area with controlled cooling, triggering a natural, programmed cell death. The magic here is that once it’s gone, it’s gone for good. That’s because the body has a pre-determined number of fat cells that it considers “baseline”. Of course, there are medical conditions that can cause that number of fat cells to change, but usually speaking, it’s fairly set.

Once the programmed cell death is triggered by CoolSculpting, the body naturally eliminates the fat over the course of 3 weeks to 3 months, depending on your metabolism.

How long do results last?

That means once it’s gone, it’s gone for good. CoolSculpting treatments reduce the number of fat cells in the treated area by up to 20-25% per treatment.

It’s important to keep in mind this means there are fat cells left behind, too, which makes CoolSculpting permanent only for the cells that were killed. CoolSculpting is not a free pass to eat/live freely. It is not a weight loss procedure, either. CoolSculpting is body contouring. The fat cells left behind can still function as normal, being subject to weight gain and weight loss.  This is a great thing – because you can still gain and lose weight naturally.

How do I maintain my CoolSculpting results long term?

So once it’s gone it’s gone for good, and the only thing you need to do to maintain your results for a lifetime, is to maintain your weight. By including regular exercise and healthy eating choices, you can maintain your weight, and thus your CoolSculpting results.

There’s nothing different you need to do, unless the scale is currently on an incline. Then, the equation is simple: calories in must be less than calories out. That’s the only way to shed weight. Take your diet + exercise further with CoolSculpting at Element Body Lab.
